Resolution No. 9741

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections (Commission) pursuant to Republic Act No. 10367 has promulgated Resolution No. 9721 entitled RULES AND REGULATIONS IMPLEMENTING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10367, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "AN ACT PROVIDING FOR MANDATORY BIOMETRICS VOTER REGISTRATION";

WHEREAS, in said Resolution the Commission scheduled the conduct of validation of registration records beginning July 1, 2013;

WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 9715 promulgated on 18 June 2013 providing for the Calendar of Activities for the Synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, the Commission has scheduled the resumption of the system of continuing registration of voters and listing of the members of Katipunan ng Kabataan from July 22 to 31, 2013;

WHEREAS, in order to maximize the workforce of the Offices of the Election Officers nationwide in the conduct of the registration of voters and listing of Katipunan ng Kabataan as well as for other preparatory activities for the October 28, 2013 Synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, there is a need to suspend the conduct of validation;

NOW THEREFORE, the Commission on Elections, by virtue of the powers vested in it by the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, Republic Act No. 10367, 8189, the Omnibus Election Code and other election laws, RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES to suspend the conduct of validation of registration records effective July 12, 2013 until further ordered to resume by the Commission En Banc.

Let the Election and Barangay Affairs Department implement this Resolution and the Education and Information Department publish this Resolution in two (2) daily newspapers of general circulation.
