The Commission on Elections has received 2,297,606 applications in the first month of the resumption of the system of continuing registration, July 2 to July 28, 2018.
Of the total applications received and processed nationwide, except in Marawi City, 1,037,265 are from male applicants and 1,260,341 from female, latest data from the Election and Barangay Affairs Department (EBAD) show.
Applications for registration were 1,054,067, while applications for transfer of registration records numbered 895,246. Meanwhile, applications for reactivation were 179,254; for change/correction of entries, 168,326; for inclusion of record in the book of voters, 441; and for reinstatement of name in the list of voters, 272.
"One factor in the upsurge in submissions is the influx of applicants intending to have their registration records transferred, since applications for transfers were not allowed in the previous rounds of voter registration ahead of the 2018 Barangay and SK Elections," Spokesperson James Jimenez noted.
Satellite registration activities are also being conducted nationwide in barangay halls, public/private schools, commercial establishments, detention center/jail or resettlement areas, areas with Indigenous Community, and other public places to ensure wider voter participation.
Region IV-A led the regions with 372,834 applications, seconded by Region III at 260,712, followed closely by the National Capital Region (NCR) at 255,796. ###
