COMELEC spearheads AAEA Executive Board Meeting and Forum on EMB Independence

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) spearheaded the 2018 Association of Asian Election Authorities (AAEA) Executive Board Meeting and Forum on Independence of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) and Election Security from October 8-10,2018 in Manila Marriott Hotel.

Fifteen EMBs, four local stakeholders and 29 COMELEC officials including the Commission En Banc attended the forum. Delegates from various EMBs tackled the Challenges on Independence of EMB and how they have been addressed; best practices on Electoral Security; as well as preventing violence against Women in Politics.

The 15 participating EMBs were: Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan.

Moreover, the delegates from our local stakeholders come from Philippine National Police (PNP) , Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), National Citizen’s Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), and International Foundation for Electoral System (IFES).
