Planning Consultation in Mindanao for GPB 2016-2022 was held on September 22-23, 2016 in Denaville Resort, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte. The 50-50 Gender Equality Forum and Stakeholders' Consultation in Mindanao for GPB 2016-2022 was held on September 22, 2016 in the Kapitolyo ng Siargao, Dapa, Surigao del Norte. This was authorized under Minute Resolution No. 16-0589 dated August 30, 2016.
Objectives:
To complete the nationwide planning consultations with internal and external stakeholders -
- To consult with internal stakeholders - the COMELEC GAD Focal Persons in the field, together with some of the Senior Staff and office heads in the main office, on the appropriate and beneficial activities that we shall implement for 2016-2022 to address the numerous issues and concerns on gender in COMELEC and in the conduct of elections, including but not limited to, the meaningful and increased participation and representation of women in elections;
- To consult with external stakeholders - the PWDs, vulnerable sectors, LGUs, LGU Focal Persons, women organizations, academe, media, etc. in Mindanao, or at least in Siargao, the proposed venue of the conference, on the activities that will be recommended for implementation to promote 50-50 gender equality in elections and ensure inclusive and participative formulation of the GAD Plan for 2016-2022;
- To ensure effective, efficient and successful implementation of the GAD Plan for 2016 - 2022 by the key players who own it, the same being the product of consultations; and
- To promote a gender-sensitive, more inclusive and successful 2016 Barangay and SK and future elections.
The Inspirational Message was given by Comm. Maria Rowena Ameila V. Guanzon. Guest speakers included Atty. Teopisto E. Elnas, Jr., Director IV, EBAD; and Atty. Esmeralda Amora-Ladra, GAD Focal Person. Mr. Reynaldo G. de Guia, GAD planning resource speaker, was the event's facilitator.
