Resolution No. 8596

WHEREAS, to undertake pre-election, election, and post-election activities in connection with the May 10, 2010 National and Local Elections, the Commission promulgated on February 12, 2009 Comelec Resolution No. 8584 entitled "IN THE MATTER OF CREATING A MONITORING AND COORDINATION COMMITTEE, AND ASSIGNING COMMISSIONERS TO SUPERVISE THE VARIOUS ELECTION WORKING COMMITTEES IN CONNECTION WITH THE MAY 10, 2010 NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS".

WHEREAS, in view of the recent appointment of Commissioner Elias R. Yusoph, there is a need to amend Comelec Resolution No. 8584;

NOW THEREFORE, the Commission RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, as follows:

1. to amend Comelec Resolution No. 8584, promulgated February 12, 2009. The pertinent portion to be amended reads:

"NOW THEREFORE, the Commission on Elections by the power vested in it by the Constitution and other election laws RESOLVES to create a Monitoring and Coordination Committee in connection with the May 10, 2010 National and Local Elections to be headed by Chairman Jose A. R. Melo with the following Election Working Committees to be supervised by a Commissioner:

RESOLVED, further, that the Committee Chairman may appoint a Vice-Chairman of the Committee who shall be primarily responsible for its operations."

to now read as follows:

"NOW THEREFORE, the Commission on Elections by the power vested in it by the Constitution and other election laws RESOLVES to create a Monitoring and Coordination Committee in connection with the May 10, 2010 National and Local Elections to be headed by Chairman Jose A. R. Melo with the following Election Working Committees to be supervised by a Commissioner:

RESOLVED, further, that the Committee Chairman may appoint a Vice-Chairman of the Committee who shall be primarily responsible for its operations."

2. to designate Commissioner Nicodemo T. Ferrer as Assisting Commissioner, Media & Information Committee.
