IN THE MATTER OF AMENDING COMELEC RESOLUTION NO. 8374

This pertains to the amendment of Comelec Resolution No. 8374 promulgated 28 November 2007, entitled IN THE MATTER OF THE CONSOLIDATED REPORT ON THE FAILURE OF ELECTIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE OCTOBER 29, 2007 SYNCHRONIZED BARANGAY AND SK ELECTIONS; AND THE CONDUCT OF SIMULTANEOUS SPECIAL ELECTIONS ON DECEMBER 15, 2007, in view of additional field reports on failure of elections and Minute Resolution No. 07-1836 dated 20 November 2007.

The Commission RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, to amend Comelec Resolution No. 8374, particularly, the list of areas in the consolidated report on the failure of elections in connection with the 29 October 2007 Synchronized Barangay and SK elections as follows:

  1. to delete Barangay Precinct Nos. 0019A/0019B of Barangay Balicuatro, Lavezares, Northern Samar in view of Minute Resolution No. 07-1836 which resolved to grant the request of Acting PES Nonita A. Arzadon, said province, for authority to continue the counting of six (6) Barangay ballots and canvassing for said clustered Barangay; and the transfer of the counting and canvassing venue to Lavezares Central School;
  2. to declare failure of elections in:

    3. a) Barangay Gokotan, Pikit, Cotabato for Sangguniang Kabataan positions considering the failure of SK voters to cast their votes;

    b) Barangay Precinct Nos. 455E, 459A and 466A of Barangay Maharlika Village, Taguig City for failure of the appointed BET to perform their duties in their assigned precincts.

  3. to include Barangay Gokotan, Pikit, Cotabato and Barangay Precinct Nos. 455E, 459A and 466A of Barangay Maharlika Village, Taguig City in the December 15, 2007 Special Barangay and SK Elections approved pursuant to Comelec Resolution No. 8374.

The Executive Director is hereby directed to immediately implement this resolution and give notice thereof to the Provincial Election Supervisor and Regional Election Director concerned, who shall, in turn, notify all candidates and parties concerned.

The Education and Information Department shall publish this resolution in two (2) newspapers of general circulation.
