Commissioner Al A. Parreño graduated with a business administration degree and law degree at the University of the Philippines. He graduated in the Top 10 of his law school class. He was an editor of the Philippine Law Journal and a recipient of the dean's award for academic excellence. His work experiences include working as supervising lawyer of the legal aid program of the University of the Philippines, legal researcher and litigation lawyer.
