REQUEST FOR THE CONCURRENCE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES IN THE DEPUTATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND INSTRUMENTALITIES OF THE GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES, TO ENSURE FREE, ORDERLY, HONEST, PEACEFUL AND CREDIBLE CONDUCT OF THE MAY 13, 2019 NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS.
WHEREAS, in the interest of free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible conduct of the May 13, 2019 National and Local Elections, the Commission on Elections (Commission) finds it necessary to deputize law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the government, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP);
WHEREAS, under Section 2 (4), Article IX-C of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, such deputation requires the concurrence of the President of the Republic of the Philippines;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Commission RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, to request the concurrence of the President of the Republic of the Philippines in the deputation of law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the government, including the AFP in connection with the May 13, 2019 National and Local Elections.
The Executive Director is hereby directed to furnish a copy of this Resolution to the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, through Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea, Malacañang Palace.
