On May 14, 2018 Barangay and SK Elections (BSKE), 41,948 out of 42,044 barangays will be holding a regular election, excluding 96 barangays in Marawi City.
In the last 5 years, the Barangay polls were postponed twice while the SK polls which was scheduled October 2013 were postponed four times.

- There are 57,378,380 registered voters for the Barangay Elections.
- Based on Philippine Statistics Authority and COMELEC data, 9 out of 10 Filipinos (18 years old and above) are registered voters.
Among the 57 million registered voters for the Barangay Elections, Luzon has the most number of registered voters with 22,187,867 (38.67%), followed by Visayas with 15,281,354 (26.63%), while Mindanao has 13,267,132 (23.12%) voters. Lastly, National Capital Region comprised 11.58% of the registered voters.
Of the 57 million registered voters for the Barangay Elections, 51 percent or 29,545,282 are females while 49 percent or 27,833,098 are males.

As presented in Figure 5 and Table 2, the number of registered voters and voters who actually voted for Barangay Elections from 1982 to 2013 are increasing.
Candidates by Election Year
The number of women candidates during 2018 and 2013 are almost equal, while male candidates for 2018 decreased by 12% from 2013.
