New survey shows May 2016 polls more credible; COMELEC feels validated

"The COMELEC is pleased that a resounding majority of Filipinos believed that the recently concluded elections are credible and trustworthy." COMELEC Chairman Andres Bautista said on the positive result of the latest Pulse Asia Survey on the conduct of the May 9, 2016 National and Local Elections.

According to the Pulse Asia survey, most Filipinos described the elections as fast, orderly, and not marred by cases of electoral violence. The survey showed that 92 percent of Filipinos view that the release of the results of the May 2016 elections were fast, 93 percent believed that the elections were orderly, and 95 percent did not observe any incidence of electoral violence.

"The recent Pulse Asia Survey validates all our efforts," stated Chairman Bautista. As I have said before, the 2016 elections was the most organized and efficient we have had in our nation's history. We have to thank our employees, both in the central and field offices for their efforts to ensure that the people's choice will be heard." Chairman Bautista further stated.

The 2016 elections had a voter turnout of more 81%, which was the highest in years, and an electronic transmission rate of more than 96%. ###
