IN THE MATTER OF SUSPENDING ALL ACTIVITIES IN CONNECTION WITH THE OCTOBER 31, 2016 SYNCHRONIZED BARANGAY AND SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, Bills have been filed in Congress for the postponement of the October 31, 2016 Barangay and SK Elections;
WHEREAS, recent pronouncements of President Rodrigo R. Duterte support the postponement of the said elections;
WHEREAS, recent developments lean towards the postponement;
NOW, THEREFORE, under the circumstances, the Commission on Elections in the exercise of prudence, has RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, to suspend, effective September 9, 2016 all activities including biddings and procurements, in connection with the October 31, 2016 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Let the Office of the Deputy Executive Director for Operations and the Education and Information Department implement this Resolution.
The Education and Information Department, this Commission, shall cause the publication of this Resolution in two (2) newspapers of general circulation in the Philippines.
